This rod is designed for open water where long, accurate casts are required to fish pocket water from a distance or intercept a lone cruiser. The extra length gives you increased tip speed for longer casts and excellent lure & line control. The extra length stiffens this rod a bit, but it is still for fishing light jigs and small to medium topwaters. The extra length is also an advantage for wading.
